Purgatory

So why is a big empty lot on 31st and N. Classen supposed to be scary?  Well this used to be the spot of Club Purgatory, a heavy metal club where a group of partiers supposedly fell from from the balcony and died.  Before that, the club was the site of an Episcopal Church where it's rumored a priest hanged himself.  When I lived in this area as a kid, every time I passed the church turned night club I would get a creepy feeling and I still get that feeling just passing the empty lot.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any pictures online of what it used to look like, but we can use our imagination Posted by Picasa

  2. Oh yes, I remember this club. I think it went through several name changes. I went there a couple of times but it wasn't called purgatory at that time. They also had live music there sometimes.

Do they still have The Wreck? And Angles?

  3. The Wreck Room is still there. I think Angles recently closed. Hopefully not for long! It was pretty.

  4. Cool! I used to sneak out my window and spend all night dancing at the Wreck when I was in HS. Fun times!

  5. It was club infinity before it was purgatory and after infinity it turned into an 18 to enter club...I hung out there 3 times a week at least. The balcony collapsed when it was still club infinity, there were to many people dancing on the balcony and it collapsed onto the bar below it, I don't remember if anyone actually died in the accident

  7. I remember Club Infinity...penny beer nights, '80's Thursdays, live music on the weekends upstairs. I was there every week. Great times. Tragic history.
