23rd St. Body Body Piercing
This shop was also on my 23rd St. scary night walk. Sorry about the flash in the picture, but this is another must have picture. In college, I got my labret piered (lip piercing) here. I used to get so many strange looks from some of my more conservative class mates in my engineering courses. LOL! Especially this one backwoods country chick. Fun times, fun times. Unfortunately, it fell out one day on my way home from school and by the time I got home the hole was closed.

On my scary night walk of 23rd Street, I had to take a pic of this sign. Black Women spend billions of dollars on thier hair--Jerri curls, wigs, weaves, pony tails, relaxers, miracle growth aids, and braiding hair. This used to be the place where we all went to get what we needed for whatever style we wanted. I was never a big hair person, I espeically hated weaves and ponytails, but even I have gone into this place more times than I can remember with my mom and my sisters. It's closed now, but of course the sign brings back memories. BTW, there are still stores in MWC and Del City.

Market C
This is a new business on 23rd Street, when I first read that they were going to open a gourmet market on 23rd St., a place I considered crack head territory, I laughed a little. But the business is booming. When I was out taking these night pics, I didn't see anybody on the street and no one came up to me and asked if I wanted to buy a quarter bag. So I guess I'm gonna have to change my mind about 23rd Street now. This place used to be a mechanic shop by the way. There used be lots of beat up cars in front and a few men standing around making jokes and maybe talking about fixing some of the cars that were out there--maybe.

Tower Theater
I was driving along 23rd Street when I saw this sign so I had to stop and get my camera out. It's been here for a while, but I've never seen it lit before. I googled it and found out the sign was relit in April of this year and it was built in 1936 as part of the Tower Theatre (the theater is still closed). I also learned that NW 23rd street between Lincoln and Classen used to be a part of the business loop of Route 66 (shout out to Heather's Rt.66 pics from last week). This strip of land, is known to be pretty scary. I was scared getting out of my car to take the pics, but like Midtown, the Paseo district and the infamous Bricktown, developers are trying to renovate the area. With great places like Cuppie and Joes, Big Truck Tacos (pics to come), and few others it seems like they are headed in a great direction. Hmm...
