I love the way English Ivy looks so cozy and natural when overtaking a home. Unfortunately, I cannot bear to let it work apart the masonry on my own house, so I'll just admire it on the homes of others.

Perle Mesta Park

The weekend is still in full swing, so be sure to enjoy it while you can! These are some folks having a relaxing birthday party/picnic at Perle Mesta Park in NW OKC. The park is the center of beautiful historic housing district with lots of gorgeous Victorian homes. I took plenty of pictures of those, too, for other days. But just as a teaser, here's one of them. I was very taken by the sharp, Gothic/modern black and white paint job.

If you're more of a partier than I am (I will actually be in Tulsa today) you could swing by the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival or the Norman Arts Festival. If those are still too nerdy for you, I'm sure you can find anything you like on the Gazette events list.

Longing for Summer Time

This is a pic from the historic Heritage Hills district, which is west from the Mesta Park district. I thought all of Heritage Hillls was east of Mesta Park, so I was suprised to find this small addition here. You can't see it in the above pic, but there is a large hole behind the hydrant and a few construction workers. I hate to see water being wasted like this, but I guess they had a good reason. It made me wish it was summertime and I could get out there and play in the water.
