Old, Boarded Up, and Beautiful

Old, boarded up, and beautiful. I wonder how much it's gonna cost to fix it up and beautiful like some of the other remodeled homes? It takes money to make money.

Forever in Bloom

This is my last post until next week, so I'm gonna leave you with some beauty. This is a metal sculpture outside of one of my favorite contemporary remodeled homes which I pass on the St. Anthony's run. It's January, it's freezing outside, but these flowers will bloom forever.

Pretty Lady at the Door

This pic was taken with my camera phone so it's very dark. But can you see the pretty lady at the door? I think she's flirting with me.

Small Perfect and Cluttered

I also took this pic on a St. Anthony's run. I love these older homes with thier odd, perfect colors. There were about three of these small homes in a row. They were all different colors. This was the best maintained one out of the bunch. I want to come back over the summer time and see how it looks with foliage around it. I'm betting the house looks beautiful surrounded by color.

Stairway to nowhere

In any old neighborhood there are going to be some abandonded homes, boarded up homes, and some empty lots. I've seen a few driveways that lead to nowhere, but it's not often I run into stairs which lead to nowhere. This lot has two sets of stairs that lead to nowhere. Whoever tore this lot up did a horrible job. There is even a scary pit to the left , which seems like it leads into the depths of hell. ::insert evil laugh::

BTW, directly behind it is the St. Anthony's parking garage.

School of MetaPhysics

I always pass this house when I run near St. Anthony's Hospital. It just looks like any old remodeled home, but if you look closer it has a sign which reads "School of Metaphysics". There used to be a big ole wooden sign in front, which is how I first saw it a few years ago. Now the sign is a lot smaller, more discreet and closer to the building. The place looked a lot cooler with the other sign. I wonder if they changed it because they were having problems with vandals.

Are you wondering what the school actually means? Here is the definition from the website:

The School of Metaphysics was brought into the world in 1973 as a place where
all people of all backgrounds could come to study, learn, teach, research the
ways to live in harmony with the Universal Laws that govern creation. It
is a 501(c)(3) educational institute of higher learning.

This is my first week posting. Yeah! I chose the above pic because it shows the reason why I've stayed interested in running in downtown OKC and why I've started posting here. I love the juxtaposition of downtown OKC. The contrast between the newly remodeled homes and the old sometimes decrepit boarded up homes. This pic was taken a few blocks from St. Anthony's Hospital and my son's private school. The neighborhood had gotten so bad in 2003 that St. Anthony's was considering leaving until the city stepped in and gave them some financial benefits to stay. The nieghborhood still has some issues and I'm always a little bit scared when I run there, but I still love it. I just make sure I have my mace with me.
