I am not sure if every city is the same, but in OKC we have seasonal Halloween megastores - we get the Spirit Store and the Halloween Express, 2 of each, at a minimum. They open in October only, usually preying on the empty buildings of deceased box stores. They are full of spooky goodness, elaborate displays, new gadgets, costumes kits and bits, and animatronics that succeeded in startling my husband into yelping and running away this past weekend. Even if we don't buy anything, it's always worth at least two trips - one before Halloween to pick up must-haves and enjoy the displays, and one on the day after Halloween for spooky clearance.
